Regenerative therapy is growing in popularity across the globe due to its non-invasive approach to healing and wellness. Learn the answers to 15 of the most frequently asked questions we are asked about this revolutionary, regenerative treatment.

Why Stem Cell Therapy?

Regenerative therapy has gained popularity because it offers a non-surgical approach for safe and natural healing from painful and debilitating health conditions. The pharmaceutical approach to arthritis and joint pain is still not effective for some 20% to 40% of those suffering.  According to the National Institute of Health, regenerative therapy with stem cell therapy provides a promising alternative to surgery by promoting safe and natural healing.

Stem Cell Institute of America treatments are now available at Spine Correction Center of the Rockies, one of the few clinics in the country to offer regenerative therapy utilizing an amniotic allograft tissue matrix.

Frequently Asked Questions about Stem Cell Therapy

The following frequently asked questions, and their corresponding answers, can help you decide if you want to pursue stem cell therapy for your current health condition and needs:

How do I know if I’m a candidate?

If you have areas of inflammation and pain, soft-tissue defects, tendon and ligament injuries, cartilage injuries, muscle injuries, facial injuries, injured nerves, tendinosis, osteoarthritis or joint tendinitis you’re a candidate for stem cell therapy.

What is the process like?

We start with an evaluation and x-rays. This process takes about an hour. Based on the evaluation, we’ll schedule a time for the injection. It is typically one injection done by our Nurse Practitioner. The procedure takes about 20 minutes and that’s it! No waiting, surgery, or invasive procedures.

Are there limitations or specific instructions following the procedure?

There are some limitations in physical activity in the 2 weeks following and working your way back up in activity level between weeks 3 and 8. If you are normally inactive some movement is encouraged. This would be walking and periods of standing and sitting. If you are an extremely active person it is advised to decrease activity for a few weeks following the procedure.

Will I need physical therapy afterwards?

This is very case specific and we can advise on this more for each individual patient.

Will I need x-rays or an MRI?

You will need x-rays. If you have had x-rays or a MRI done within the last year we will view those.

How quickly can I get in?

We can get you scheduled right away for the evaluation and x-rays.

What is your success rate?

Each case is different therefore everyone’s results are different. We have seen great success with the procedures we have done.

What is the long term outlook?

The long term outlook is case specific and is dependent on the joint we are treating as well as how extensive the damage to the tissue is.

Does it hurt?

The procedure is different for everyone. We don’t see our patients experiencing much discomfort with the injection.

How quickly will I see relief?

The timeline for relief varies. Some patients experience relief immediately following the injection while others may experience a decrease in discomfort over the next 2-4 weeks. Peak regeneration of the cartilage or injured tissue occurs between 6-12 months.

What should I wear?

Wear clothes that fit loosely over the injection site.

What if it doesn’t work?

We review this on a case by case basis.

How long does it last?

It is one injection for the rest of your life. In rare occasions a patient may need a “booster” injection later in life.

Does insurance cover it?

Unfortunately at this time there is no insurance coverage for this service.

Do you offer payment plans?

No payment plan is available and payment will be due at the time services are rendered. We do accept Care Credit, fees will apply.
