When most people hear the word “scoliosis” the first thing that comes to mind is going to the locker room in grade school and having the nurse check your spine while you bend over and touch your toes. Am I right?
Well…that is true unless you or a loved one has been diagnosed with scoliosis, then all of a sudden it is brought to the front of your brain!
Unfortunately the younger generation may not even have the thought of being checked by a nurse in the locker room because this isn’t being done in most states like it used to be. Although this basic screening didn’t catch every single case it did put the thought in most kids’ and parents’ heads.
For those that aren’t aware, scoliosis is a curve of the spine when looked at from the front greater than 10 degrees. The medical model involves using bracing at a certain degree and then surgical fusion as the curve worsens.
Spine Correction Center of the Rockies (a regional CLEAR Institute treatment center) specializes in the non-invasive treatment of scoliosis. The degrees of curves that we work with range from very minimal (10 degrees) to the upper 80’s. We also work with all age groups, age 2-95. Now that’s definitely a range!
Our goals at Spine Correction Center of the Rockies include making sure children are screened and treated if need be as well as making sure that all people have the option of treating there scoliosis with a non-invasive technique that works!
