The start of a new year is a time to make changes to your health for the better. Studies show that the top resolutions people make are to improve their health and fitness. However, studies also show that most people quit their resolutions only 6 weeks into the new year. That doesn’t have to be you! With the right therapies and help, you can get better health, have less pain and reach your goals easier!
Countless millions make New Year’s resolutions that they vow to stick by. However, we are all human, and it can be hard for many to keep those resolutions. Have you ever made the goal to exercise, but then found yourself hitting the snooze button a few too many times? What about that goal to eat more veggies and you have only had carbs and sugar all day? This happens to so many people, which is why the top resolutions are consistently the same from year to year. Most are health-based and include:
- Eat healthy
- Exercise more
- Save money
- Focus on health
- Get enough sleep
Aiming for Better Nutrition
A new year is a time to make changes for the better, but you don’t only have to make changes at this one time in the year. You can choose each day to be healthier, and you can start any time with your nutrition. We are a center that helps patients kick their ailments and reduce their health problems through natural therapies. However, nutrition is a major part of that. As the saying goes, “garbage in, garbage out.” If you are only fueling your body with non-nutritious foods, odds are that it won’t run very smoothly.
Nutrition plays a vital role in you developing chronic conditions, diseases and even those daily aches and pains that you have without a cause. Your nutrition can contribute directly to neuropathy issues that we see in patients. Nerves in your body can definitely die or become dysfunctional if you don’t have nutrients to help repair cells in your tissues, organs, muscles and bones.
To keep your body healthy and to help it repair cells as you exercise, lose weight or use natural therapies, you need at least 6 essential nutrients. Those include protein, carbohydrates, fats (yes fats), water, vitamins and minerals. Your body must get vitamins and minerals through healthy foods, as you can’t naturally make them on your own. Most like calcium, zinc, potassium, Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K will help you rebuild cells and have normal body processes. With your nutrition, start switching out sugary foods or heavy-carb foods (breads, pastas, cake) with fruits, veggies and a protein shake. Then, we can help you build upon that depending on your health problems and goals.
Exercise: Don’t Skip It
Your nutrition can change with the few food choices you make each day. Exercise works the same way. You either choose to exercise or you don’t. However, studies show that those who do exercise moderately can add 3.5-4.5 years onto their life. What is moderately? The American Heart Association recommends that every person gets at least 150 minutes of exercise every week to keep their body healthy. That’s about 30 minutes, 5 days a week, and it’s something everyone can do.
But what if you have chronic ailments, neuropathy, back pain, or health problems that prevent you from exercising? Don’t cross it off your resolution list just yet. There is something every person can do to exercise their body. We use natural therapies such as chiropractic care, neuropathy treatment, neuromuscular reeducation and more to help get your body back to health. Many of these natural therapies will have some sort of stretching or exercise to boost circulation, oxygen to all your tissues and muscle strength.
For patients who can’t exercise or who aren’t at that point yet, we have them do whole body vibration. This is provided through a vibration platform that patients stand on. The machine sends dozens of gentle vibrations through the body each second, and in turn, your muscles contract and relax over and over. This leaves patients with a full workout that prevents muscle atrophy and boosts healing.
